I am not sure of this topic has aired here. For some time I have been downloading DSD files from Channel Classics. These are 2 channel DSD 1 bit 2822KHz recordings (see http://www.channelclassics.com/dsd.html). They work out to about R200 - R280 an album and they include cover artwork if you want to make your disc look pretty

These cam be written to a DVD under a folder called DSD_DISC and then will playback in a SONY SACD player.
The problem is that very few SACD players recognise .dfs files as they are known. Several friends would like to listen to DSD recordings but do not have the equipment. Sure you can get a high quality sound card (I have an ASUS XONAR) and use Foobar or Audiogate to play them back, but it is a bit combersome having a PC in the living room and laptops have mediochre sound cards, although I see a USB ASUS sound card is available for about R1000.
The next option is a Teac UD 501 d/a converter which sells for $800 odd from a supplier in the USA, again see http://store.acousticsounds.com/d/88974/Teac-UD-501_PCM__DSD_USB_DAC-DA_Converter_or_Processor
Have any of you guys tried this out, or have used another method of downloading hi-res DSD recordings?
I must say the sound off these dfs files is really excellent, much better than redbook CDs and as good, if not better than SACDs
