So, I decided to go through the setup/alignment of my TT this week, and this evening I had a listen, and at the end of the LP, near the spindle, while the LP is playing, before reaching the inner groove, at a certain point you can hear a sound that sounds like a spring releasing. Not through the speakers, but coming from the tonearm.

When I take the tonearm back to its resting position, and re-adjust the tracking force, taking the tonearm slowly to the spindle the click sound appears again at the same spot, and you can feel that their is less "resistance" when taking back the tonearm to its resting position.

What could it be? How difficult/delicate of a job is it to remove/install the tonearm to have a look-see?

The TT is an old Revolver Rebel deck with the Linn Basik arm. http://www.vinylengine.com/library/revolver/turntable.shtml
