Because of reading some horror stories, I discussed this with my insurance in the past, even had some arguments with them around this. According to them I don't have to specify expensive audio gear and my 2-way radio gear for example, since it falls under household content automatically, as long as the total sum of my household content is correct. What I've been trying to explain to them is that they probably won't believe me one day should I have to claim, that I have 2 HF radios which has replacement values over R50k each, that I have a audio system with replacement value over R100k etc. because the average person have a 2-way radio worth around R5k and same goes for their little boombox. I have a list of all my things, the serial numbers of my expensive stuff as well, and then I also took photos around my house. Do yourself a favour and go threw your household content then check if you are insured for the correct value. Many people find that they are under insured and usually they unfortunately only find this out when it is too late. If just looking at something like clothing for example, go calculate what it will cost you to replace all the clothes in your cupboard today, I guarantee you'll be somewhat shocked.
