The thing I don't quite "get" ...is that when it "does" play... it plays with authority. No weak bass output from the SW at all, which tells me that this is not so much an issue of weak signal (most yamaha SW-outs have 1.5v average) whereas my Sony has 2.5v (according to google sources) so I suspect the real issue lies with Velodyne's finicky signal-detecting. SOLUTION: After trying just about every so-called fix... the following extreme measure was the only thing that actually worked (well, sort of). In manual calibration I set my speakers to -7db and set sub to +8.5db for a whopping 15.5db difference between the 2. Sub still takes around 5 seconds to detect the signal but when it does, it now does so at low volumes and continues to play for any length of time, without switching off. I've compensated for this by turning the volume (on sub) down to less than half. *Now, I had previously tried +10db with all speakers at -1.5db with no success. The 11.5db difference was not enough it seems. The fix was recommended to me by one of the guys at Digital Revolution yesterday. I was browsing the store when the gentleman who tested the sub last week enquired how it was doing. Really, these guys are just incredible.
