A club I belong to has an InFocus 118HD projector, capable of displaying 1920 x 1080 at 60Hz. It is 5 years old
The projector has VGA and HDMI inputs and usually auto-detects the incoming signal
The projector is at the back of the room, with the screen in front and the presenter usually stands to one side, with the computer aiding the presentation
There are 2, 10 metre VGA and HDMI cables that were purchased at the same time
Since I present 70% of the meetings, I use a MacBook with a Display Port to HDMI adaptor
In October I noticed that the projected image would flicker, sometimes display strange colours. I reduced the display to 50Hz and 1080i and it was ok
In November, there was no display via HDMI although VGA was 100%
I experimented with a 5m HDMI cable and this is 100%
I purchased a R300,00, 10m HDMI cable. This did not work at all
Tried it with a Windows PC which has a HDMI output, no signal
Put back the 5m cable and all is ok
However, if a HDMI to VGA adaptor is used (with HDMI from the computer), this is 100%
The question is therefore... Would you say that the HDMI input on the projector is failing?
