Some of you may have noticed that Rega have moved to a ?fixed bias? pre set anti skate level on their entry tonearms as fitted to planar 1 and planar 2.  The planar 2 has the new RB220 arm which is the descendant of that go to affordable arm for decades.  The RB250.

?The RB220 has pre-set bias making this arm even easier to set-up than previous models. The Rega designed bias system will adjust the amount of bias as the tonearm tracks the record ensuring even tracking and negating the need for user setting.?

Considering the typical cartridges planar 1 and planar 2 are likely to see are all in the 1.5 to 2 g tracking zone with bias set accordingly in that narrow band it may not really matter?

Does it induce angst to the more critical? Would you buy a fixed bias arm for your turntable project or upgrade?
