This question was buried under the more interesting topic of proper PC AMPs / DACs in my other thread, so I'm starting a new one in the hopes of getting some answers :) I'm looking for a decent entry-level headphones AMP/DAC combo for my wife. USB powered is fine, locally available would be ideal, not breaking the bank would be great too :) I've seen the Audioquest Dragonfly Black v1.5 recommended, though it's a little pricey at R1,800 locally. Also - are the volume controls software-based? There's a dual boot of Ubuntu / Windows on the PC she uses, and I doubt they have Linux software / drivers for it. Would that be a problem? Any other options out there, maybe from some less mainstream but equally good brands? Thanks!
