Is it wise to use 2 different subwoofer brands in setup?

Hi all,

I'm still very much a newby to the av world.  And must admit this really becomes an addictive process of trying to make the perfect setup well on a budget as well.

Anyways I initially started out by acquiring my subwoofer a velodyne eq-max 12,  but I'm noticing it's not as powerful as I would want it to be, and was thinking of adding a svs pb 1000 to the mix?  I'm aware that the svs can play lower than the velodyne. But would these two be completely different in  dual setup?  Should I then rather stick with same manufacturer?

My other speakers are paradigm monitor series. If that makes a difference. On svs website they recommend the pb 2000.

Your thoughts would be appreciated.
