:) Thanking all for your advice. The "warm" sound I refer to has nothing to do with bass though. Maybe I should say.....not a "tinny" or "digital" sounding. : ??? I don't know how to put in words what I hear! CD sounds like it has an over perfected "crisp" quality to it. It sounds "clean" even surgically so! My old turntable sounded more "present", "there in the room", with a "rounder" sounding mid range. The bass on my current set-up is great and balanced but I miss the old LP sound. I have tried different cables and could not hear a difference even between the coax and the optical input. Maybe I should ask the place I buy all my stuff from if they can bring me 2 pairs of speakers so I can connect it in my lounge and listen. Don't know if they will. Thing is where do I start listening with the myriad of speakers available? Do I go floor standing or bookshelf etc???? :o Yes I know I don't have the best system but we all have to start somewhere ;)
