Now I know we all stream media to a DAC and Viola! all is well....
But while waiting for the Vivere I dabbled in the darker arts... DVDA and SACD....
I didnt have media so I downloaded a few "samples" that I promptly destroyed after NOT listening at all to it :RTFM:
Now there is a certain group of players (Hence my "wanted" add) that plays anything copied (your backup copy of your CD, DVDA and SACR :faint: ).
These include Denon 3910, A11, Pioneer 989
All three play your backup DVDA back at up to 24/192.... mmmmm
The Denons play the SACD-R & SACD-ISO back too MMMMMmmmm
Sound quality ?
DVDA
1.1) Denon 3910
1.2) Vivere
3) HRT Streamer tied with Denon A11
4) Pioneer 989
5) Pioneer 868
The Vivere and Denon were playing games with my scoring sometimes...
CD
1) Wadia 860 tied Vivere
2) Denon 3910
3) Denon A11
4) Marantz CD 5003 - From memory, easily beaten by 3910 hence the acquisition of the 3910
5) HRT Streamer
6) Pioneer 989/868
7) Pioneer PD-M95
8) Marantz CD 63 SE KI
9) Rotel RCD 975
SACD
1) Vivere
2) Both Denons
3) Pioneers werent really interested
Now add that nice Musical Fidelity VALVE buffer stage, njammies
The Denon 2910 also performed great on CD from what I recall. The Pioneer 868 is quite a beast
The 3910 is a beast... Damn pity I dont and would never use its DVD capability...
Just in case someone feels they should discard a DVD player that still has some serious kick left in it.
