My children have just arrived home from work 4am. My 23 yr old daughter works in a local pub to finance her Unisa studies.

She has just got a post for her brother to help out as a runner for the Christmas holidays ( Great Brak River )

Management has just upped all their prices eg. chilli poppers from R35 to R60.

They have cut the salaries of the regular staff to pay for runners.

Management declared they were not incurring additional expenses.

Management said it would encourage them all to work harder to receive tips.

Nobody is paying tips due to the price increases.

Being informal employment there are no contracts.

I dropped them off at 12 yesterday afternoon and they worked until after 3am this morning. We're looking at 15 hours on their feet.
No meals are provided. No formal food breaks. ( She just asks someone to cover for her while she eats )

I know the main owner...... and I can f him up....... but I don't want to jeopardise her job as we really need the study money.

Management is usually not present during open time. Her friend was made "manager" because he is a male and more able to deal with rowdy customers. He is not the decision maker. They both originally were on the same level.
He is a barman, then there is my daughter who serves behind the bar and the tables.

Anyone know the law pertaining to the above ?

Any comments on which way we should tackle it ?
