During the coof period I rebuild my HP1's. They were a bit tattered, headband was crumbling and lots of other small niggly things bothered me. See this entry at the IEEE Hall of Fame: Yamaha HP1 hall of fame IEEE
  • Type: orthodynamic headphone
  • Drive units: 55mm
  • Impedance: 150Ω
  • Frequency Response: 20Hz to 20kHz
  • Input: 3000mW (nominal), 10000mW (max)
  • Maximum SPL:
  • Distortion: 0.3%
  • Cord length:
  • Weight: 290g
  • Price: $200
  • Year: 1976
Since I got the IFI Zen DAC V2, this was time to really start using the HP1. Still need to sort the cable as the original is a bit stiff and not nice no more. I did modify the cups with better damping and they sound wonderful as always. I bought these new in 1982 after saving for a long time, cannot remember what I paid for them any more.
