Hi All,

This year I am going to convert my one room into a recording studio.. I really want to keep it simple with the basic stuff I need to record that sounds good.

Not sure who all have experience in this but need some advise.. I have done some reseach but want to get some views before I go out and spent money..

What I want to do?
I play guitar, sing and write songs.. So I would like to record my guitar, my voice and add some additional instruments like drums, bass etc to complete each song.

What is the basic equipment I would need for this? I want to go cheap, but not so cheap that I have to upgrade soon.

From my reseach almost every website recommends Apple computers as the heart of the recording studio? Using software like Edit Pro.. I know my brother uses an monster of a desktop 8 core processor from Dell, so not sure if I must go this route as Dell is much cheaper than apple and you get more processing power.

Then some advice on the monitors? Was thinking not smaller than 7inch for clear lows.. Not sure which brands etc.. Maybe Yamaha..

To record the guitar a stereo mic set-up, and another voice recording mic.

Soundcard / Audio interface - Not sure at all.. Loads of options on the market.

Please share some of your experiences views?
