So this morning my wife's car, a Hyundai Getz, broke down on the freeway - immobiliser light came on, engine went dead, and that was it. We've had the car towed back home, tried starting the engine with spare key, no luck. The car manual refers to a 'limp' home mode using a password. Only problem is that my wife bought the car second hand from a dealership, and they never gave her this 'password'.
So firstly we've no idea why the immobiliser would decide to trigger in the middle of a journey, and secondly, how on earth we can get the car up and running again. Any suggestions?
