A good entry level setup to test audio equipment?

Hi Guys,

Looking for some advice on what I would need to have a setup in order to test new equipment such as amps, disc players, equalizers, cassette players, etc? It would mostly be vintage equipment.

What would be needed? Is it as easy as just having 2 speakers and a power cable?
