Impulse bidding is as bad as impulse buying. Popped into a local auction house and the following was just coming up for auction so I had no time to inspect the lot, just saw the word radio on the crate so decided to bid as my real passion is vintage radio restoration.
This is what I took home.
Cardboard box contained a 10" Stentorian speaker. Quite interesting, has two voice coils so you can strap for different impendances.
Opened the crate and found the following (no Radio!)
With cover off.
The original sales invoice and receipt was there, purchased in 1965 for R 100-00! Wander if the firm "Morris Radio Engineers" in Kimberley still exists?
So no radio then, just a mono valve amp (pity there wasn't two!) It has two phono inputs. I suppose with the amp and speaker one could make up a mono system for your 78's!!
Oh well, will put back on auction some time to try and recover my costs.
