I really like the finish on this layered speaker - seems as if the Baltic Birch was slightly stained to produce a darker shade...
Can I get the same finish with normal oiling/polishing?
Do you guys know how difficult it is to obtain the same finish? Any experience with staining Baltic Birch...
Internal shielding between stages/channels is important to get right... and with a larger "box" you have the opportunity to design more space around each channel to accommodate the install of custom (often physically larger) capacitors (if one wants to go this route... not necessary on the stock...
Thanks Francois (and Family including Johan) for your hospitality...
I thoroughly enjoyed:
1) Listening to those Vivids- difficult to describe just beautiful sound?
2) The AE bookshelf with the 2 Ming Da valve amps had quite a few of us mesmerized - they sounded big, bold with guts and finesse...
Agreed... the Vivids played REAL music once the Paladin unleashed it's magic... i really enjoyed the Paladin amp... very natural flowing sound and it surprised a few "hardebaard" audiophiles...
Every time I listen to "Hallelujah" I'll quietly celebrate his life and what treasures he gave to the Soul of Music - what a magnificent singer and performer he was. What a legacy he leaves behind. RIP...
I also don't mind waiting, no problem! I'm sure there will be takers for the existing boards as the amp builds it's THOR reputation :Whoohoo:
The plan is to do a build-in-progress-thread once all the parts and goodies have been sourced.
I would LOVE mono channel vu meters... Gives that MCIntosh feel... And it brings back memories of my dad's tape deck with line level meters... Looked really cool
Did a search and i've found this on ebay...
