Owned the D75 and and the more current XLS1002 and used them for non commercial speakers like vintage JBL and Dynaudio. JBL love crown too so they will work well. The XLS range are lightweight, run cool and are excellent value for money, worth a try.

What interconnects you using? I have VDH The clearwater, Cable talk 3.1, Atlas element and some others I can't recall. Interconnects made more of a difference for me.

Those woofers are incorrect. The same seller also had a pair of hpm speakers for sale a while back, however same problem of replaced drivers.

Nice discussion, Go for the best speakers you can as they influence your system and sound the most. I remember a while back this was posted on the forum: http://matrixhifi.com/ENG_ppec.htm Provides a good insight if you don't have components to do similar comparisons.

Never meant to target anyone. Its just sad to see all these caliber speakers with said tweeters, and in your case (previous owner) especially when they were replaced. The massaging helped with the "break in" probably  :giggle:

Exactly, which is why I found it strange that this was happening on rare and expensive speakers. One would think owners are more protective and careful over their pride and joy. Worse to when there are guards and damage still happens  :nutter:

Probably if you realize the damage and try to correct it in a short space of time before any creases or so set in.

I would think so too, no fingers can get in there too  ;) I suppose that's the weird thing about it, I have old speakers from 60/70s and some modern ones made in the last decade or so. Unless the tweeters were actually physically damaged (which they haven't) they are all fine and have not...

Thanks Air, I never knew that. I've owned Dynaudio's with Esotec for many years and no issues. Whats the cause, an established manufacture should know better?

Some lovely speakers been for sale here recently; Some Charios a while back, and more recently some B&W floorstanders, Dynaudios and some high end US made stand-mounts. I noticed in the one sale thread it was mentioned "normal for these tweeters" to dimple. However, the speakers were missing...

Your source components are pretty decent already. Put the money into a pre&power amp or speakers.

Well I like their products, and have never had a lemon yet. Owned B1 integrated, Tempest and Typhoon. All punch way more than their ratings and always were musical. Give it a shot.
