There is a guy in China selling off the remaining ABEX stockpile.  ABEX stopped making cassette reference tapes about 5 years ago.  When these are all gone, they're gone. 

The choice of tape that the deck will be aligned to has been a point of some debate, as it depends a lot on what is available.  At this stage, I'm thinking of 1988 TDK AR, 1988 TDK SA, and 1991 TDK MAX.  For the type II's, instead of SA I might go with 1987 BASF Chrome Super II.  We will see.

It would be interesting to get a few volunteers together, where they listen to cables A and B, and each make notes of how they feel the cables differ (without discussions amongst the volunteers).  after the session, the notes could be tallied up to see if any sort of concensus can be established.
