I'm looking for software to do my income tax - the only one I've found so far is Softbyte and at R 2 500 per year it's a bit steep for private one-off use. The package needs to cater for foreign income and provisional payments. Any constructive suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks to all for the suggestions. After looking into the matter further, I downloaded a utility (not the Nirsoft product but this also works) that can read the authorisation code from the BIOS in newer machines, to extract the OEM activation key. I applied this and received the usual brush-off...

Jaws - thanks for the suggestion - will have a look at that. SeanS - Haven't swapped channels yet - will do so. The dropout is limited to mid-range driver. My thinking (and I'm a complete beginner with this) is that the crossover is not filtering (if that's the correct word) enough of the bass...

An interesting development - I swapped the drivers between the speakers and the 'break-up' remained in the same speaker, suggesting the problem's in the crossover.  Time for some professional attention, I think.

I've noticed recently when playing through my Mission 705 speakers at highish volumes what I believe is a case of speaker 'breakup' in one of the mid-range cones. The sound is similar to that of hands clapping; there is also the occasional momentary drop-out of any sound. It seems odd for two...

I  bypassed the cap for the tweeter in the offending speaker, as suggested (thanks - a good suggestion), played signal tones from 5Khz up to 10 kHz and the formerly quiet tweeter started working; so, a dud cap - not surprising but good to have it confirmed. Not an essential good so will have to...
