There is a setting on the theatre processors for 5 or 7 channel stereo
Most of them have it
I know the RSP has it and also the Yamaha processors
It gives you pure stereo but over 5 or 7 speakers
So you don't get the dolby or cinema dts sound effects
Just stereo
As far as I know there is no RC-1572 The new model is the RC-1590
It looks awesome 34bit/768kbps DAC (looks like they not opting for the Wolfson DAC this time round)
Also has more inputs
I don't think it is the gain that makes the difference so much
The RC sound is vastly different from the RSP
When I connected my RC it was just so much brighter and the music became alive instantly
The stereo setting on the RSP is just not the same

Thanks so much for your input. I am going to try the high level inputs yes. I too think I should just keep the Rsp. I paid 32k for it and would probably end up getting half if I had to sell it. I just bought it 7 months ago. It would be a huge loss
The subwoofer gives me more fullness in the music. I find that it greatly improves the sound. I have played with the volume gains on the sub too. You are right in saying that the levels of the two are different
