Interested to see what you do with this.  Thought of doing the same when mine arrives... Also thought of using a USB hub to power it, but separating power so there is no loop when the Pi draws power from the hub.  There is a D-Link hub that has 1.2A on 2 ports for charging devices.

Agree with many of the others that cold turkey is the only way.  Although something that helped me was switching to rolling tobacco - ended up smoking a lot less which made going cold turkey easier. Tried Zyban once too...  Apart from making me feel bonkers, it gave me a horrible, painful...

I would think 50W is probably too little for the 683s.  But 2nd hand is a good option, I haven't had any problems with equipment purchased from other forum members.   Maybe put up a wanted ad with your requirements?  Have a look at earbud's 2 Rega amps in the classifieds too...
