    Ceiling speaker advice

Quick update. Bit the bullet and installed the speakers. Figured that most other ceiling speakers would fit in a similar sized hole if it didn't work. Guess what! They sound awesome once in the ceiling. Blends perfectly and really lifts the sound. Works so well that I've ordered another set :D

    Ceiling speaker advice

As mentioned I have a set of Polk Rc80i ceiling speakers. And they are 8" with adjustabl tweaters. Listened to them on the floor (maybe very different in ceiling), but they arent keeping up. Completely disappear... Even wondered whether adding 2 sets on a channel might help.

    Ceiling speaker advice

I'm quite happy with my current 3.1 kit. But very keen to get surrounds / height speakers. The only problem is that I have to go ceiling speakers (wife approves). Currently running Polk RTI A9's, A6 center and DWS micropro 3000 sub. The Polk RC80i's seamed like an obvious choice, but they...

Help - Integra DTR 80.3 HDMI start up

That sounds like a repair that would be classified as "economically unviable". Some more info. My secondary HDMI out still works. Problem is it doesn't have ARC and doesn't show setup screens....

Help - Integra DTR 80.3 HDMI start up

My Integra DTR 80.3 (think its an Onkyo 5008 equivalent) suddenly stopped outputting through HDMI to TV. The ARC still works fine (if I play from TV to amp). When I try and play any device through the Integra the device screen displays "HDMI start up" and the TV just shows a big Integra logo...

Replacement / spares for Polk RTI A9 feet

One of the feet on my Polk RTI A9 broke into pieces during our last move. The feet all actually looks pretty generic. Any idea where I can source a replacement / spare? I emailed audiotronic twice, but not getting any feedback there. Pick of what new feet looks like...

    Ceiling speakers

Hi all, My new in ceiling speakers are arriving tomorrow. Polk RC80i. I've had a quick look at some installation videos and they all seem to just cut a hole, pull through wiring and install speaker. No reinforcement of ceiling, no installing speaker on brandering, no support. If I do this...

    Boombox build-off! - input needed!

Here goes my noobest questions of the day.... Those powered speakers are called PA speakers. My understanding is that the PA stands for Public Address. When I see public address I'm thinking just voice to large crowds. Can these speakers do music properly?

    Boombox build-off! - input needed!

I'm hoping to do a budget mono speaker with amp built in. The pq sound stuff looks interesting. Anybody know what the difference is between the two amps? looks like the one might have a power supply connected...

    Boombox build-off! - input needed!

I'm new to DIY audio, but luckily there are some smart people on this forum. Hope to take this further than just a theoretical discussion and actually build it. See this as a bit of a challenge for now. I want to build my own power speaker / monitor. I'm thinking I would need speakers or...

    Heat issues - Onkyo 609

The problem with heat is that by the time you realise that the amp is overheating it is too late... There are plenty of new parts on modern amps that can get permanent damage when it overheats. Take for example the video chip on these amps. Ever seen what happens to a computer graphics once in a...
