Only if you can receive it. I don’t know other people’s experience, but I’m still waiting for the Mars 6SN7 buffer I ordered & paid at the Sep 2020. Yes, you read it right, it will be 2 years of waiting at this month end.

    Listening at homeopathic volumes

Nothing strange here The environmental noise level usually higher in the daytime And much lower in late night The lower noise level is the easier you hear more details. I suggest you download a sound pressure measurement App Measure it and see the difference between the day and late night time.

    Philips loudspeaker restoration ideas?

Restore the original cabs as what those drivers were designed for. Then buy a good pair of Philips AD9710m for your next open baffle project.

Proton the forgoten one. No they are not the same as NAD, just cousins.

A friend of mine bought one AM452 for his budget system decades ago. But at the time, I was aiming the Proton AM455 Pro that I couldn't afford. now I still wish to own one, but I just couldn't find one.

    Guillaume Lemaire

I'm so shocked and sad. He was a gentleman and a passionate audiophile, very helpful and generous to share his knowledge, we used to enjoy chatting on certain topic, (in my case, mini monitor & Theta dac). R.I.P Guillaume

An audio unicorn - affordable full range speaker ?

Yes, I thought OP was talking full range driver when I saw the topic. But when I saw him mentioned 20Hz~20kHz -3dB, I knew what he really mean.

I like the design of that MF X-A1 - and it should match with the B&W CDM 1NT very well.
