Will this blow stuff up? I note the amps is higher than a typical wall wort but surely the device will only draw what it needs?

I wouldn't recommend running it off a battery without a voltage regulator. I might not blow up, but the sound might not be what NP intended. And you're correct - current gets drawn, not pushed.

A simple CLC filter should work fine. The values are approximate (use what you have).
