B R I L L I A N T ! ! !  It works!!!   :Whoohoo:

(Sadly not the NVidia GeForce driver, but another ATI Catalyst Driver for Windows Vista off the web).

No more blocky 16-bit graphics, - instead crispy, fine pure 1280 x 1024.  >>

This PC is already quick as is with a CPU upgrade (pending) and doubling RAM to 4GB it will achieve supersonic.  :)

If it's running on an ATI driver it's not a GT 610...

yep something is wonky there - an Nvidia card will never run with catalyst drivers so someone told you some lies or you dont really know what card you have in the PC  :nfi:

Nvidia cards are all Geforce and the catalyst drivers are only for AMD cards - and they wont work vice versa

Here is the thread that I followed to get the Graphics Card working properly:

* - ATI Catalyst Windows Vista graphics driver did the trick.

That makes absolutely no sense, genuinely don't know how that could possibly work.

Try downloading GPU-Z and confirm the model of your card, and the exact graphics specifications BEFORE downloading the driver.  An ATI driver cannot be used on an nVidia card.  Even if it WORKS now, there will be issues further down the line.  Blue screens should be expected.

thats one way of doing it but you can also check with a utility already on most windows computers

if you can find the RUN command utility (normally Start then RUN) then type in DXDIAG and under the display tag it should tell you what card is on the PC

if the Run command is not on the Start menu then you need to right click on your taskbar and go to Properties then under the start menu tab you should have an option to cutomize - there you can scroll down to RUN and tick this then apply and you will then find a RUN option in your start menu
