I found non flux coated de-soldering braid a grief; also bad for the p.c. tracks as solder does not quickly flow into the braid. General opinion is that solder gets 'sucked' up through capillary action, but in practice this does not work well unless the braid is also fluxed - oxidation of braid wire and such. When one eventually does get the solder removed (sort of), small p.c. islands have also lifted.  Fluxed braid immediately and cleanly absorbs solder.

Yet one gets these products: Velleman, which I never found to be fluxed. Lately however I also encountered 'Spirig 3S' wick occasionally unfluxed - no indication on the label as to that.  (No use to ask dealers about that; not on their knowledge tasklist.)  'Spirig' is Swiss made, so I would have expected better.  :(  Previously we used 'Soderwick' with no problems whatsoever, but apparently unavailable these days.

Any experiences/help?
