There is a gentleman living in Cape Town who has quietly been building a moving coil cartridge of the highest quality and has yet to be featured (to my knowledge, anyway) in our local audio press - despite the fact that the SA edition of Popular Mechanics has done so a couple of months ago. The April 2008 edition of Popular Mechanics - on pages 60-63 - featured a write-up on the "Blue Angel Mantis" and it's creator, Andr? Hanekom.
Here are two reviews of the cartridge in question:
Vinyl Asylum: http://www.audioasylum.com/audio/vinyl/messages/71/715501.html
VinylSA: http://vinylsa.co.za/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1364
These two reviews - from two continents - provide an insight into the quality of this cartridge - and the dedication of its creator.
Come on Andrew, it's time this particular prophet was recognised in his own land (and time)!
