Yosemite on Macbook Pro

Hi

Tried to the reinstall OS X Yosemite  on Macbook pro , but there is no hard drive icon to reformat, only the install Yosemite page. clicking continue the following error is displayed
                                "An error occurred while preparing the installation. Try running this app again."

Any Ideas on cause of issue
