I need your expert advice please :roll:
I want to start planning my new stereo setup, before we carry on, I don't have the finances for Burmester, Sonus Faber, etc :vsad:
I am a Yamaha and Monitor Audio fan as I know the products fairly well ( :thinking and their prices are reachable. So, here is what I want to purchase but need you guys advice as to which speakers will suit the amp the best. I included all the specs and hoping the trade group guys can give their input as well. I cannot just go and audition - I stay in Middelburg...
I included the prices (est), so would also like to know for eg, is the sound quality difference between the Soavo and the NS-F700 really the R11000 more worth? And so with the R8000 difference between BX6 and RX8, etc. Best value for money vs sound quality obviously plays a big part.
Amps will be:
Yamaha AS700 stereo
Min RMS output power = 90W + 90W (0.019% THD)
Max output power = 145W + 145W
Dinamic power per channel (8/6/4/2 ohms) = 140/170/220/290W
Frequency response = 10Hz - 100kHz +-1dB
Input sensitivity = 200mV/47k-ohms
THD = 0.012% (50W/ 8 ohms)
Signal to noise ratio = 110dB (S:200mV, CD direct on)
or
Yamaha AS500 stereo
Min RMS output power = 85W + 85W
Max output power = 130W + 130W
Dinamic power per channel (8/6/4/2 ohms) = 130/150/185/220W
Frequency response = 10Hz - 100kHz +-1dB
Signal to noise ratio = 100dB
CD player will be
Yamaha CD-S700
Frequency response = 2Hz - 20kHz
Harmonic distortion = 0.002%
Signal to noise ratio = 110dB
Dinamic range = 100dB
Output level = 2 +- 0.3V (CD, 1kHz, 0dB)
Yamaha speakers (not including all the driver sizes, etc)
Soavo 1 - 3 way base reflex (+-R23000)
FR = 35Hz - 50kHz
Input power (nominal/max) = 50W/200W
Sensitivity = 89dB/2.83V/1m
Cross over frequency = 500Hz/5kHz
NS-777 - 3 way base reflex (+-R9000)
FR = 30Hz - 35kHz
Input power (nominal/max) = 100W/250W
Sensitivity = 89dB/2.83V/1m
Cross over frequency = 1kHz/4kHz
NS-F500 - 3 way base reflex (+-R10000)
FR = 40Hz - 50kHz
Input power (nominal/max) = 40W/160W
Sensitivity = 88dB/2.83V/1m
Cross over frequency = 580Hz/4.1kHz
NS-F700 - 3 way base reflex (+-R12000)
FR = 45Hz - 50kHz
Input power (nominal/max) = 40W/160W
Sensitivity = 89dB/2.83V/1m
Cross over frequency = 700Hz/4kHz
or Monitor audio
BX5 - 2.5 way base reflex (+-R6000)
FR = 36Hz - 30kHz
Sensitivity = 90 dB/1w@1m
Power handling RMS = 120W
Rec amp requirements = 30-120W
Cross over frequency = LF: -6dB@400Hz, MF/HF: 3.2kHz
8 ohms
BX6 - 2.5 way base reflex (+-R8000)
FR = 34Hz - 30kHz
Sensitivity = 90 dB/1w@1m
Power handling RMS = 150W
Rec amp requirements = 40-150W
Cross over frequency = LF: -6dB@600Hz, MF/HF: 3.4kHz
8 ohms
RX6 (+-R12000)
FR = 38Hz - 35kHz
Sensitivity = 90 dB/1w@1m
Power handling RMS = 125W
Rec amp requirements = 40-125W
Max SPL(dBA) = 114.8
Tweeter X-over = 2.7kHz
Bass X-over = 700Hz
6 ohms
RX8 (+-R16000)
FR = 32Hz - 35kHz
Sensitivity = 90 dB/1w@1m
Power handling RMS = 175W
Rec amp requirements = 50-175W
Max SPL(dBA) = 116.2
Tweeter X-over = 2.2kHz
Bass X-over = 300Hz
4 ohms
As mentioned, I would like the best speaker/amp combination of the products here. I know room size, etc counts a lot, so maybe two options, one for small room and one for big.
I listen to most genres, but prefer rock, light rock, ballads, acoustic guitar/music, busy exploring jazz, etc. I love detail, but also like to pump it occasionally, so the speakers must cope in the midrange and bass department.
So, anyone willing to assist or give advice? This is where the experts come in...
