So, after a weekend of listening to the IDA 8, here are my observations.

Setup is as follows(bedroom):

Transport: Plinius CD101
Speakers: JM Labs. Micro Utopia Be
Subwoofer: B&W DB1.
Wadia 170i with Ipod Classic(music recorded in lossless).

I have not yet reconnected my Pathos Impol2 back. I do want to do an A/B as well.
I had to recalibrate the DB1 due to the high gain on the sub outs.

No noise at all perceived. There was the "crackle"when powering up.

I enjoyed and am enjoying listening to the IDA 8. That may sum it up.

The female vocals were really good. Guitar, organ, percussions were clear, uncoloured.
Soundstage was wide and deep.

I listened to
Herbie Hancock(The imagine project), Especially "Don't give up"
Casting Crowns(while you were sleeping)
Diana Krall
Michael Jackson(Yes)
Bob Marley

and some more.

I was and am very pleasantly surprised by the music reproduction from this "little box".

The small form factor is a plus. But the overall experience was one of enjoying the music.

Did i miss my Pathos? Yes a tad. and i asked myself why? I felt slightly more involved in the music. Again this is my own experience which may not be the same for other folk.

I will also try it with my Vivid K1's, using a Mark Levinson 31.5 as a transport.

I am keeping it, but will be giving it to my son helping him to build his first decent(very decent), two channel rig.

In the meantime i will continue to enjoy the music.

I plan to also do a comparison with using the plinius as purely a transport and also using the plinius as the player(i.e. using it's own dacs).

My o.02cents worth.
