@chrisc: I sold the kit to itscraig, as I didn't have the time to build it, and instead went for an off-the-shelf NOS11 DAC. The NOS11 hasn't been delivered as yet, as the dutch company I purchased it from is awaiting stock, but I am very regretful that I had to sell the kit for help fund the MUCH more expensive NOS11 (which I hope sounds as good as the Soekris) I purchased the components from various suppliers, after some extensive investigation (smartphone + Gautrain commute = research time)... All links to the suppliers that shipped to me in SA is in the 1st post. That transformer, for example, was from http://sklep.toroidy.pl; and these guys know how to make audiophile worthy toroidal transformers!!! -- FYI/PS: I had thought about getting a custom triple output regulated linear power supply from Acopian, but decided to go for a toroidal transformer option first, for the ability to get one at a time, and reduce upfront costs. @makepeaceDamn! If we had only had this chat 2 weeks ago :( I may just ping you in future tho... Although I just purchased an Onkyo Dp-X1 DAP, I have been thinking about a Soekris ApS dam1121-01 OEM board (or 2), connected to something like an Intel Edison, BeagleBoardBlack, or ideally a the rumored Purism mobile phone board, and pop in a 1 or 2 mini SSD drives (similar to the 512GB 42mm M.2 NGFF 6G SSD drive I use in place of my 3G card on my notebook), and build my own DAP (or REAL Audiophile Smartphone) Won't really mind if it's a thicker than my recent mobiles, as long as I can get awesome music, and have a smart device. If you're interested in starting the project with me, please let me know; then I'll start with some design ideas and investigations on my daily Gautrain commute
