So I recently acquired a very nice, second-hand Rotel RB-990BX and, like most obsessed people on here, I've been digging through the archives on the internet to find out just how good this unit is even though I already love it and the Rotel RB-9xx range has a sterling reputation. We all like reading good things about the stuff we've bought  ^-^

I read an interesting article from way back in the day (Audiophile Voice) when the Rotel RB-990BX was first introduced. The chap reviewing the unit stated that he was running a triple-wire run to his speakers form this amp and the amp literally blew fuses each and every time until they figured out that he had to use different speaker cable. He was using Ocos cable at the time and had to switch to Meitner cable instead. Obviously when he managed to stop blowing the fuses in the amp, the unit got a fantastic review claiming that it performs up to par with amps that cost nearly 5x as much. I can believe that.

Have you guys heard or had experience with amps blowing fuses due to specific cable or when you bi/tri-wired speakers to them? It seems like an odd reason to blow a fuse, but my knowledge on the matter is laughable. Obviously if you wire something incorrectly you'll blow a fuse easily. But I was rather confounded when I learned that you could blow fuses in an Amp by using cable that performs "too well"?  :nfi:
