The limited-edition ATH-W2022 closed-back dynamic headphones have been produced to celebrate the company’s 60th anniversary and 25 years of crafting wooden headphones.
The ATH-W2022 are entirely sourced and assembled in Japan, blending technological innovation with the traditional artistry that Japan is famed for.
Using the Japanese maki-e lacquer technique, the headphone housings incorporate hand-painted Sakura (cherry blossom) and hou-ou phoenix designs, with mother-of-pearl on the left and right sides respectively.
Within the housings are baffle-integrated 58mm dynamic drivers that Audio-Technica specially developed and optimized for the new headphones.
Additionally, the diaphragm has a pure titanium center dome, pressed to a thickness of 30 microns (0.03 mm), which emphasizes mid-high-range with an excellent high-frequency response.
Price? A piffling US$9000 and only 100 will be made. Sign me up...
