I have quite a few, but the one that comes to mind immediately is ?Nobody?s Twisting Your Arm? by the Wedding Present. I was in Altona to watch them on the anniversary tour for the ?Bizzaro? album in 2019. On arrival I struck up a conversation about the Peel festive fifty journals with David Gedge (the lead and constant member and owner of said journals) as to whether he was going to put them online. The conversation moved between that, his interest in South Africa (he went to school here for a time), my living here and general stuff about past gigs. I asked if he would play ?My Favourite Dress? as an encore, or failing that ?Why Are You Being So Reasonable Now??, his response was that they?d played ?My Favourite Dress? a few times on the tour as an encore, but maybe the other. I quipped that ?Nobody?s Twisting Your Arm? and a few hours later was bouncing up and down at the front with a Scottish punter I?d never met before during said encore, screaming the lyrics back and coming close to passing out with both dehydration and joy. I had previous, I?d got crushed and blacked out during the original tour during ?Kennedy?. Dave Gedge?s wife suggested that was the T-shirt for me then (and I bought that one).
