The battery is a known issue caused by a firmware update that Sony released. If we had access to a Sony center, Sony was replacing them whether in or out of warranty. Locally I didnt have luck, I reached out to SMD technologies, the South African Distributor and sent them my set. I sent mine in and they apparently replaced one ear piece but when I got it back, it was just as bad as before I sent it to them so I don't think they did anything to be honest. Just blew smoke up my proverbial A.... Ended up giving it a friend in living EU and told him if he can get a replacement from Sony center, he can keep them. Worth a try, you might be luckier than me. (PS also ordered mine from Amazon US, and mine also only lasted about 2 years, 230 hours of listening)
