I just did this by adding a Parasound Preamp and 150 watt power amp. The bypass function is very useful. Now I have the best of both. Except of course that the power amp only does 2 channels. For HT, instead of a Processor/power amp combo I use a AVR, so my setup is a bit different. The 7005 should be good as a preamp. Within your budget, a Rotel RB1080? They go for around your budget price, and will match the 1075. I also really liked the Audiolab I had in bridged mode it did 150watt, and was very good to my ears. But you'd need to audition. The marantz may already lean towards a warm sound?
