The lamp on my old Optoma HD72 has packed up again after less than 1000 hours. Apparently an Achilles Heel of these models is ballasts that had poor quality control, leading to shorter lamp life (and where the lamp is not able to keep the arc, it simply goes dark after 30-40 seconds, but does not give any error lights). So -- where to get a replacement? In the US the OEM part is around $100 and compatibles in the $50-70 range. In South Africa online sites quote R2000-R3000 for equivalents. Saw one quoting over R4700 for OEM! Anyone have a good source to get lamps at a decent price? If it only lasts 1000 hours, not interested in paying through the nose!
