Where is the weakest link when things get big?

But yes, it can quite easily happen when there is too little headroom somewhere. Take several stages before the volume control. If the latter usually has to be set very low on the 'scale', it might be that somewhere before the control something is over-driven. This can e.g. happen when your CD player has a quite high output voltage (as some of them do). The initial stages then 'see' the full signal, which might overload something before the volume control can take care of matters.</p><p></p><p>So no clobberations here - I often wonder myself.
