[QUOTE="gbyleveldt, post: 19582, member: 122"] My original idea for the DAC was to upgrade the capability of my Marantz CDP5000 and bring it in line with the higher priced units available, but for a fractionally lower price. While the Marant CDP5000 gives us all a nice platform to start from, there are definate improvements that could be made. Unfortunately you not going to get past the average mech used in the Marantz. My next step would be to to look at the Pro market for a transport. These typically use higher spec mechs - with all the benefits to go with that. In the same breath though, you will pay exponentiall more than what you paid for your CDP to notice any improvement, definately a lot more than what you paid for the DAC for substantially less imporvement.
