Back to the Revox. I tried my hand at lapping the heads. This is the before on the playback head. And the after. Started with 600 grit with light oil. Jumped to 1000 then to 1200 and finaly polished it on 3M 6 micron fancy paper. The record head went a lot easier, only because I realised that it is not that difficult at all.....or maybe my confidence went up. Still it is is a long and slowish process if you aim for a good result. Perfection is not what I aimed for here. But the result was way better than what I expected. I would like for any kind member to help me to get a callibration tape of a known good machine, I am not aiming for perfection, but for something that I can try and get the Azimuth dialed in closer that what I can achieve with what I have.
