I tackled the VU meter. One is working the othe bugger is dead. Took apart. The resistance checked fine. It turned out that the magnet in the centre of the spool lost its grip and jammed to one side. I got it back in position and kept it there with some insulation I stripped of wire. After this it got glued back with some Q bond. The meter was reassembled. I can say that at time I have spend more than a couple of hours on this. The brain was not functioning properly anymore. The meter tried to work into the wrong direction. In hind sight the magnet got glued back in the wrong polarity. Not thinking straight I tried to dissolve the glue with Acetone to flip the magnet......BIG mistake. Everything turned into a ghoooieeee mess. The correct approach....swop the wire connections on the PCB :Ooooooh: Now I am in the marked for a spare meter.
