If you've read about who presses well (Mobile Fidelity, Analogue Productions, Music on Vinyl, etc. etc.) and you've gone past that looking for specific albums, then it gets to piece of string territory. Maybe give a couple of examples of some of your favourite albums? Then folks can share their experiences if they know different versions of that album?. I always check pressings on Discogs - but some pressings don't have good (or any) reviews listed. I continue to replace older pressings with newer ones if they were done well. Sometimes the new pressings are an improvement, but not always. Just this morning I phoned a good friend to ask his opinion - I have (for example) an orange pressing of Supertramp's Breakfast in America. On Discogs they start from R2,500. But the Mobile Fidelity (apparently) is one of the very best versions, and I picked that up for R850 from a local retailer. I'll probably keep both, but will have fun comparing them! That said, some of my favourite music (older alternative, goth stuff) sounds everything but audiophile. But I still own and cherish my vinyl copies! So gooi some examples!
