If thats the switch with the brown bakelite cover at the back(which is the power switch section), i had a similar experience...i caused a problem because i cleaned it with switch cleaner. I sprayed cleaner into it because it was slow/sticky on switch on...and after cleaning...it wouldnt click on and if it did...was very slow. I then googled n found a thread on the web abt this. I gently drilled the rivets out and stripped the switch..cleaned and lubed the contacts and reassembled with tiny ss nut/bolt/spring washers and was good again. Also read that these switches can be a fire hazard if faulty n arcing. I suggest spraying dwf into it to lube it n then drain it n let it dry out instead of drilling it open...if its still arcing then maybe take it apart n see. Theres also a mod using a micro switch thats on the web that works well if u not too concerned abt authencity.I have good upclose pics i took of my work on this n what that switch looks like inside. Good luck Sir, glad you brought this to the forum.
