Well I haven't seen these for many years. A friend's dad had 2 pairs. He had the EMI amp that went with the set. Got them in the UK on a business trip in the late 70s. As far as I can remember the speakers were made by Jensen. Rebranded with EMI. Cabinets were made by EMI's own factory, also UK based I think. These were intended for "live music" in studio to hear what recordings would sound like. Became commercially sold. The reason for it being sealed is exactly that. There did exist baffled versions too but had different face panels. There were also oval shaped drivers and other different configs too. Yours is the original in studio reference version and yes would sound great with jazz and other instrumental music. The baffled versions had 2x 40mm ports on the backpanel near the top. Spacing was the same distance from top to left and top to right. Also had more bass. I only know this because friend's dad mentioned this to me one day while I was "inspecting" his 2 pairs and found 1 pair had baffles. They were meant to stand on a shelf. Very large bookshelves haha. The idea behind that was that they were supposed to be stage monitors, hence the elevated placing. Hipe this gives you some indication of what they are. P.S. leave them to me in your will.
