What a beautiful machine!! New space shuttle for NASA from Lockheed Martin. A single-stage- to-orbit vehicle using a lot of new technology. New linear aerospike engine that burns liquid hydrogen/oxygen producing water vapor from the exhaust! New metallic thermal protection system consisting of plates bolted to the craft (remember the old ceramic tiles glued to the old space shuttle). The craft can, in an emergency, land at any major airport.
If I think back about the old space shuttle (it did the job) with its massive solid boosters and gigantic fuel tank all bolted on to the actual craft, it always made me think of a flying bomb!
