Well you soon might no longer have a choice. Of the major retailers only Musica is still around (who still feature a larger DVD collection than bluray), plus a bunch of online stores. Edcon is looking for a buyer for CNA, Look 'n Listen is in business rescue. For physical media to get traction it will require effective physical distribution channels which which are shrinking at an alarming rate in SA. Going by the slow adoption rate for Bluray and the slow uptake of UHD TVs I have very little hope for this format, 99% of the population in this country aren't going to care about it either. This one will only be for the movie aficionados and the wealthy. With little retail throughput the discs are going to burn a hole in your pocket and retailers won't have an interest in dedicating retail space to a niche format. I'm enjoying HD movie rentals, but the internet connection doesn't always play along, but then we postpone watching it to the next evening... Apple have had no qualms so far about offering refunds for movies I haven't been able to watch due to streaming problems. Since we've started renting movies this way I've stopped buying physical media altogether. There are very few movies that I intend to watch more than 3-5 times to warrant the premium of owning it. Having access to a wide selection of rentals on iTunes is pretty cool. Only thing that I sometimes miss is the greater sound quality on BD discs.
