YESSSS! I rarely had or have the opportunity to buy brand new equipment simply because I cant afford it. I would surely love to splash on a new amplifier or CD player. But buying second-hand equipment has become a kind of an adventure. I enjoy it very much to get a tattered amplifier and to revive it by cleaning it up. At one stage I thought to myself that my hobby would have been damn bland if I had the cash to buy thousands worth of RRR equipment and could not really poke around inside them. (makes me wonder if thats why some many so-called audiophiles cant keep from modifying high-end gear that sounds great to start with). The amplifier I am currently using is around 32 years old. All original and still sounding every bit as good as many new equipment. Same with the turntable (albeit the brand new Rega arm and Dynavector cartridge). The CD player I guesstimate to be around 22 years old - still working like a charm. I used to brag by my friends with their bling-bling AV systems, that my QUAD II amplifiers were nearly 50 years old but sounded every bit as good and EVEN better than 'new' technology. List the classics... NAD 3020 - you can never go wrong there... etc.
