In the world of hi fi, it is very easy to fool one's self through the power of belief. If you expect something to sound better than another thing, then maybe you think it does when in fact it doesn't.
I say this because I want to see if my experience in listening to the SA tracks of a SACD, compared to listening to the standard CD tracks on the same CD is what others have noticed/experienced.
My set up is a Sony BD player, el cheapo but with good reviews versus
a NAD CD player, C546BEE, considered decent quality by the reviewers.
The amp is Denon X4200W and the speakers are Sonor Claro 6.1s.
The SACD is a Linn sampler. I played some tracks in depth on the Sony and then played those I had paid particular attention to on the NAD.
The CD tracks sounded rough edged i.e. unsmooth, compared to the SACD versions and I thought some of the background ambience was missing. I tried both standard stereo and quasi surround (Dolby surround) but the SACD version had an overall clarity that was missing on the CD playback.
Is this what others with SACD systems experience as well?
