Is it? ::) ::) ;D ;D :-X (I actually needed an emoticon of someone running for his life followed by someone else with an axe .... must find out where to get them. F_D has copied a whole host of unusual ones from somewhere - or should I say scavenged them when someone was not looking. Dogs being what they are...) Seriously (but in lighter vein), one often hears about the b-e-e-e-g difference in sound between valve and semiconductor amplifiers. Mmmmm. Why do I think that should not be ... is it just another of those "repeat something often enough and everybody will believe it" things? Valves being "slow, lethargic, smoothed-over, warm (meaning the sound, not the temperature - or did they perhaps confuse the two), pedestrian - w.t.h. ever else. But that is another topic. Spec-wise probably, as in spectrum analyses. Also being well aware of what can crawl into (or out of) the marketplace. But I would like to think that at least audible-wise, one should not be able to distinguish with proper designs. (Am I putting myself in a spot; I have never set up such a test myself, but it has been done, at least by Peter Walker of Quad fame.) But not to discombobulate the discussion.
